Proposal for Houston from Tech Community
A proposal is due by Feb 15 for the Houston 2008 conference. Since we have been asked to develop a media literacy position statement, perhaps that should be the focus of what we present. Perhaps we could do a panel discussion of media literacy or just highlight (with examples) the position statement.
Who among you would be interested in participating? Anyone want to write the proposal? Dont be shy to speak up

I am somewhat torn on the best way to go for the potential presentation. I think most attendees get more practical application out of examples in the sessions. At the same time, it would be somewhat easier and potentially more informative for some if a panel were established for discussion. At any national conference there are experts who want to share their knowledge with others, and this can be easily done in a discussion format.
If nothing else, it might be a good idea to do both; Start the presentation by reviewing the position statement, show the examples, and then lead a discussion panel by experts in the area.

I like the format you suggested and agree that practical examples are important. I guess problem is trying to write a proposal to present on something that is not finished. Maybe we can each come up with one or two examples to include. I will be happy to work up a couple of examples in history. Maybe we could also try to cover multiple disciplines and indicate that we will do so in the proposal. Do we have a starting point from which to work to develop examples?
