Podcasting in the Classroom


I’m getting ready to start a podcasting project with my high school civics students in about a month (for our economics unit), and I wanted to see what other teachers have done, or how to break down projects into steps. What are your favorite podcasts? Or podcasting projects? I’m especially trying to look for student-led projects, but I’d appreciate anything!

A site that I have used to create Podcasts quickly without editing or music is GCast (www.gcast.com). It is free and the students can upload their content with a telephone with a 1800 number.

My students enjoy the process and it gives them a ligitimate reason to talk on the phone.

It is a good way to introduce the students to the idea of Podcasting and may be a good stepping stone to a more in depth Podcasting assignment.
